Poster Session

The Ph.D. students have the opportunity  to present a poster of their research  work in the field of Cyber-Physical Systems.

Please send us the title and a short description of your research work by email at contact-cps2016@laas.fr

This description will be post it on this WEB page.

The poster session is scheduled Thursday afternoon and it will be a good opportunity to discuss further around the opportunities as well the challenges opened  by Cyber-Physical Systems.

Several awards will be given to the Ph.D. students for their research work presented in this session.

A special prize will be awarded by the Doctoral School GEET.

A Configuration Agent for Real-Time Networks - Marina Gutiérrez- TTTech Computertechnik AG

Abstract:Traditionally, configuration processes of real-time networks are costly both in terms of time and engineering effort and require some down time of the system. Whereas this characteristic has not been such a problem in the past due to the static nature of OT networks, the online reconfiguration of the network is now becoming a challenging demand for the emerging contexts of the Real-Time IoT, Industry 4.0 or smart cities. These new networks need to accommodate a much higher number of participants and therefore the network must be capable to adapt to changes while still being able to provide deterministic guarantees for the most critical traffic. The solution that we propose is to use some advanced characteristics of IT for the OT world that way considering the configuration as a continuous service for the network. To do that we introduce the Configuration Agent: an autonomous entity that learns the characteristics of the network through continuous monitoring, with the goal of facilitation the configuration and re-configuration of heterogeneous traffic profiles. With an SDN-architecture that has a global view of the network, the Configuration Agent has applications also for security, safety or wireless.

Semantic Data Driven Software Architecture for IoT Healthcare Architecture - Rita Zgheib, ISIS Engineering School, IRIT

Abstract: As the number of deployed sensors is growing, new Internet of Things (IoT) applications are being developed. Healthcare applications are an application domain of choice for IoT, since they aim to answer the challenges raised by the ageing population while offering safe and quality care in the home. We present in this paper a new architecture for IoT healthcare applications. The architecture is based on the principles of weak coupling and of semantic data exchange. We present a software architecture based on a message oriented middleware driven by semantic OWL messages

On Zero-forcing equalization for short-filtered multicarrier faster-than-Nyquist signaling - Albert Abelo, ISAE

Abstract: In the frame of digital communications systems, we can define a figure of merit commonly called spectral efficiency. Spectral efficiency accounts for the number of bits per second that are sent over a given bandwidth. The classic aproach to increase spectral efficiency consists in increasing the size of the alphabet, thus degradating the bit error rate (BER) at a constant signal to noise ratio. An alternative approach called faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) consists in reducing the symbol interval beyond the Nyquist rate so that inter-symbol interference (ISI) is generated. The main challenge is to conceive detection techniques allowing the reconstuction of the transmitted symbols at a limited complexity.

Integration of artificial intelligence in automatic network bandwidth management for M2M communication - Zongy Liu - IRIT

Abstract: For the WMSNs application in M2M communication, real-time multimedia flow increases the probability of collision and congestion in sensor network which degrade the performance of Quality of Service (QoS). how to make dynamic system decision-making for trade off between QoS and energy efficiency is crucial. In this poster, artificial intelligence example is introduced and smart system decision is integrated into Multi-Channel Dynamic Bandwidth (MCDB) structure.

Conception and construction of a Modular and remotely Controllable DC to DC power converter - Aiman Amin

Abstract:This works presents the steps for conceiving and building a modular power converter. The converter is modeled at the same time as a power electronics circuit and as an IOT object, being controlled remotely through an Ethernet connection. The system was design, tested and built during the internship of M. Aiman Amin at the LAAS laboratory.
